Dress up your bedtime routine with Dewy Bean Dream, a gentle retinol alternative resurfacing mask that transforms skin’s tone and texture and slows down skin retrograde. Part of LILFOX’s new Couture Collection, this gorgeous jelly mask works overnight to polish and plump with the support of dew bean, (also commonly known as moth bean), a protein and vitamin A-rich legume that replaces conventional retinol without sacrificing results. Its exfoliating and smoothing effects are further enhanced by its ability to retain moisture, earning this legume its luscious name. A trilogy of niacinamide, lactic and glycolic acids shed light on skin’s pesky dark spots, gently lifting away dry skin, brightening skin tone and inspiring cellular renewal. Organic aloe, bamboo extract, gotu kola, and two forms of sodium hyaluronate boost moisture and inspire cellular renewal. A stunning blend of violet leaf and neroli makes wearing this mask a nightly luxury. Drift off with a thin layer of Dewy Bean Dream, wake up with your bounce back.

This product has really changed my skin in just 3-4 weeks. I started the night I received it, and basically have used every night. I have combo-dry skin, with hormonal acne. I need products that help maintain my skin clear, but also to help with turnover/texture and breaking up hyper pigmentation. So far, no dry patches, no irritation, just amazing results. Yes, there is a strong grassy/bitter scent, but I don't mind it. I find you must follow directions for this product (and Haute C), so it helps me slow my routine and be intentional about skin care as self care. I was looking for a stronger retinol alternative before I dive into the Maya Chia one, and this fits the bill. This product will become a staple.
I'm super thankful that I got introduced to this product via the beauty heroes subscription. I normally wouldn't have sought out a natural retinal alternative, especially one at this price point, but I am so glad to have it on my shelf. I've been using it every night and it's noticeably improved my complexion and texture in just a few weeks with no dry patches. I have had acne since age 11 and I am now 25 and have hormonal acne and oily skin. In the past year, I have tried to pay more attention to skincare and switched my routine over to clean and more sustainable products. I've tried a lot of topical acne products prescribed by my dermo over the years but I stopped using my prescription retinal (Tretinoin) after trying out Dewy Dream Bean because I liked the results of the retinal alternative better. After applying to my entire face, I find it helpful to add some extra spot treatments to active zits. The product is a little sticky so you have to give it a minute or two to dry before layering other things. I hope this products helps other people too, as it has for me!
LILFOX is a hot or miss brand for me. My biggest problem has always been the heavy scent. The Dewy Bean Dream is by far the worst scent yet though and honestly one of the worst smelling products I’ve ever tried (and I’ve tried A LOT!!). I know this is a fresh product, but it smells very moldy. It actually made me gag and I could still smell it on face and hands after immediately double cleansing. I tried again two nights later, hoping that after letting dry for 10 minutes and then misting and applying an oil would help, but I just can’t do it. My absolute favorite botanical retinol is Blüh Alchemy (LOVE!) followed by Maya Chia. I will definitely be repurchasing those and unfortunately this is to be dumped/ recycled. I’ve never left a negative review on here before, but I feel very strongly about this...ha. I do like the Haute C though
All the "retinol alternative" products I've used before this have been serums. This is the first time I've seen it in an overnight, leave on mask form. It's a really great option to have, rather than layering serums with oils and creams--I can just put a few pumps of this on my face and go to bed. The stickiness of the gel texture dissipates quickly, and the mask is hydrating. It definitely works--I saw a reduction in my forehead lines after a couple of nights. Also, it has the best scent of any retinol alternative product I've tried. This is the real hero of the month for me!
At first I didn't think this would do much other than hydrate based on the texture. However, I find just like with Haute C serum if you actually follow the directions and wait times between layers the results are amazing. Couldn't believe my eyes.
