Māhealani Moonlit Glow Balm
“Keeps my skin from getting irritated or breakout during the day and leaves a nice finish to the skin that is glowy, but not greasy. ”
- Gitanjali D.
In Hawaiian tradition, each lunar phase has its own name, and each brings auspicious powers to people and the planet. Nature makes us wait all year for Mahealani, the most abundant night of the fourth and final full moon. In ancient tradition, this night is devoted to sacred ritual to honor the earth and its bounty and to call forth fortune for the year ahead. Mahealani Moonlit Glow Balm, the richest and creamiest in the collection, formulated to nourish skin and highlight its natural glow.
A base of locally sourced macadamia and kakui nut oils are rich in fortifying essential fatty acids, and native Liliko’i (passionfruit seed) delivers vitamin A, carotenoids and linoleic acid to plump skin’s appearance. Calming chamomile, clearing vetiver and balancing blue tansy soothe skin for a glowing complexion.
Like beautiful moonlight, a little goes a long way. Mahealani can be used at any time of day, but we love her best at night, following The Honua Ritual, as her seductive scent and luxurious texture envelope skin and soul before you drift off to sleep.
HOW TO USE ITUse nightly and wake up to glowing skin or as a daytime moisturizer for drier skin. Use a pearl-sized amount initially and warm in hands before massaging gently onto cleansed skin and décolleté or wherever skin needs a little extra attention and love, including areas of dryness or burns.

ABOUT THIS BRANDKapua Browning, Founder of Honua Skincare has a family lineage known for protecting the land, water and farmlands of Hawai’i. Growing up, Kapua immersed herself in the study of Hawaiian botanical skincare, becoming a licensed esthetician and instructor. She and her husband Brandon, a Hawaiian Traditional Medicine practitioner, began crafting customized oils and tinctures for their clients using native Hawaiian botanicals. In 2016, they birthed a brand with only one given name: Honua. Through Honua, which means ‘earth’ in Hawaiian, Kapua channels her passion for expert-formulated skincare that incorporates native plants and farming rituals of Hawai’i, while giving back a portion of her profits to three organizations in her homeland: 'Āina Provide, Hoa 'Āina O Mākaha and the Hawaiian Legacy Reforestation Initiative.
For those really dry days...
This winter my skin finally succumbed to all of the dry air and heat from the fireplace. My skin was parched. For a few days, I put just a bit of this Honua balm on my skin as the last step in my skincare. After a few days, my skin turned right around. I don't know if this would work for me daily, but I love having it on hand as a powerhouse moisturizer for those days when my skin needs an extra moisture boost.
Nice Occlusive Balm
I use this as an occlusive anti-pollution day balm over my skincare. Rub a small amount between my hands until clear and then press in to my face and neck gently. Keeps my skin from getting irritated or breakout during the day and leaves a nice finish to the skin that is glowy, but not greasy. Also, keeps my hydrating products locked in.
I am use to high end balms and wanted to give this a try because I love blue tansy. It is wonderful and the price point is so great for all the luxurious ingredients it has in it
Smells SO good
I’m learning that my skin prefers waxier balms over juicy oilier balms. So this one is right up my alley. It’s rich, emollient and smells divine. Māhealani is so nourishing during these colder months where my heater is ******* all the moisture out of the air (and my skin). A little goes a long way.
This is a gorgeous product. It’s a rich kind of waxy texture, but it goes on beautifully and absorbs quickly. My skin feels dreamy afterwards. I love blue tansy so this smells wonderful to me.
