ABOUT THIS BRANDIn the 1980’s, when Jenefer Palmer founded OSEA, she was ahead of her time. The Spa Director and Aromatherapist had a vision for a natural, luxury, spa-quality skincare line based on the vast benefits of seaweed. Environmentally conscious and meticulous, Jenefer’s approach to formulating required she go to the ends of the earth to find the purest, most potent source of seaweed, which she discovered in the pristine channels of Patgonia. Far removed from the heavily polluted waterway traffic, overgrown sea algae, specifically Undaria, Gigartina and Macrocystis, are sustainably collected from scuba divers who are conscious not to disrupt the natural ecosystem thriving off the coasts of Chile and Argentina.
I love Osea Ocean Milk cleanser. Initially I thought it wouldn't do for my skin type, instead it really helped getting rid of breakout and impurities, always giving a sensation of deep cleansing. Only minus is the bottle, once you get almost at the end the pump does not reach to finish the product. I admit I diluted it with water in order not to waste a drop of it.
After using slightly more than half the bottle, I tossed this. Right from the start it caused a burning sensation which I hoped would diminish with use. It did not. My skin even started breaking out it places it usually never does, probably from over exfoliating due to this cleanser. Stopped using it and within a week my skin cleared up. 2 stars because it is affordable and will probably work well for skin types less sensitive than mine.
I bought the discovery box and it came with this Ocean Cleanser. The first thing I noticed is how amazing this product smells! I rinsed it off after 5 minutes and Oh My Goodness my skin was sooo, so soft. No product has ever made my skin feel like this - it is like velvet! I have noticed it has evened out my skin tone, reduced breakouts, and keeps my skin soft and radiant. I will be a forever customer.
I've been using this cleanser twice daily for a few weeks and my skin feels great. My skin is on the dry side so this cleanser feels very luxurious and creamy. One pump is plenty, and while I don't wear coverup or face makeup on a daily basis, I find it does a pretty good job at removing eye makeup and my SPF moisturizer every night. So pleased with how refreshed and balanced my skin feels and am curious to see if it's as good in cold Midwestern winter weather. So far, the Ocean Cleanser is a great base for my skincare routine, and the packaging and philosophy of the brand is lovely. The scent isn't my favorite but it doesn't bother me.
I was excited to try OSEA products but this one did not work out for me at all. It was just too stripping. I had a menthol-like feeling from it. I think some people with oily skin or more robust skin could enjoy this so I passed it on to a friend who has oily, acne-prone skin. (Haven't heard back how she likes it.) But I will say this is not the kind of product I look to green beauty for. It works more like conventional-type products (which I associate with being too strong for my skin). Still interested to try other OSEA products though.
